Isle of Man Sport Podcast
Launched in May 2019 the Isle of Man Sport Podcast is a series of informative and entertaining discussions covering a wide variety of sporting themes. Guests include local sports people, coaches and administrators as well as visiting experts from further afield.
Our inaugural episode welcomed Professor of Psychology, Author and Sports Coaching Consultant Damian Hughes, setting the bar really high from the beginning.

Episode #9 - Manx Youth Games
Nearing its 20th year since its inception in 2002 the Manx Youth Games has had a huge impact on Manx sports culture. In this episode we hear from two gentlemen who are the brainchild of this inspirational sporting event. Gianni Epifani and Paul Bridson from Manx Sport and Recreation tell us how it all began and how it has helped to shape sport on the Isle of Man .

Episode #7 - Jack Walton Liverpool County FA
Jack Walton is a regional coaching development manager with the FA. Having started out as Football Development Officer in the Isle of Man, Jack set off for pastures new to ply his trade in sport and coaching development in the UK.
Trevor Christian, Isle of Man Sport's Coaching Coordinator catches up with Jack over a brew and discuss Jack's career path from his early years on the Isle of Man to where he is now, with a good dose of coaching development thoughts and questions thrown in for good measure.
Episode #8 - Tom Gandy Professional Golfer
Tom Gandy returns to the Isle of Man off the back of a very successful season in the Europro Golf Tour.
Tom tells us of the joy of progressing up a tier to the European Challenge Tour as well as the agony of narrowly missing the European Tour by just one shot! Tom reflects on his introduction to the game as a junior and his journey through the amateur ranks before turning pro in 2017.

Mentoring has been around for a long time but presently more and more formal schemes and initiatives are taking place to help support and develop coaches.
Episode #3 - Dr Kate Hays
In this episode Trevor Christian talks to Dr Kate Hays, Head of Psychology with the English Institute of Sport.
Kate shares her thoughts on performance psychology and how it plays an integral part of the coaching process.
Sports Psychology is often seen as a reactive problem solving profession, but Kate explains how modern performance psychology is a proactive service which is essential in preparing athletes to thrive in competitive environments.

Episode #2 - Phil Cringle
Local Lad, IOM Sport Aid Recipient and Professional Rugby Player Phil Cringle is guest on this episode of the Isle of Man Sport Podcast.
Phil went on to represent Scotland at U20 in World Cup and 6 Nations after which he cut his teeth in the professional game with the French second Division outfit Carcassonne.
Phil is now about to embark on his fourth season with London Scottish in the second tier of the English league system and has racked up over 50 appearances.
