Isle of Man Sport appointed two new members at their annual review meeting, held on 23rd October 2024.
Following an application process, Rob Frize and Dan James were appointed by the Isle of Man Sport selection panel, joining the returning member Andy Varnom who was also re-appointed for another four-year term.
Isle of Man Sport members retire by rotation on a four-year basis. It is an independent forum for the promotion and development of sport and recreation, advising and assisting the Isle of Man Government to deliver its strategic objectives in relation to sport.
Isle of Man Sport continues to be a key part in the delivery of the Isle of Man Government’s Isle of Man Strategy for Sport, helping the Island's athletes, coaches and volunteers in fulfilling and achieving their sporting ambitions.'
Rob Frize has represented the Isle of Man in swimming at the Island Games and was a medallist in 1997 and 1999. He’s an active international masters competitive swimmer at European and World level, including European medallist and former European record holder.
Dan James was a keen Rugby player from 2008 and became Captain of Castletown Rugby Club in 2010 for 5 seasons. He now spends his spare time encouraging and promoting Touch & Wheelchair Rugby. By progressing this sport he is involved with grass roots community sport, enabling sport for all.
Isle of Man Sport also thanked two of its outgoing members at the meeting, Sarah Corlett (Executive Chair of IoM Sport), who served for 16 years and David Morgan (Chair of Sports Liaison Committee) who served for 8 years. Both served on both sub committee of IoM Sport.
The eight Isle of Man Sport Committee representatives are Andy Varnom, Stephen Cregeen, Tim Leeming, Rob Frize, Dan Harrop, Dan James, Sarah Vorster and Laura Warren. John Lund is the Education Specialist who offers advice to the Committee.
