Established in 1991 by the Isle of Man Sports Council, Sport Aid is a Manx registered charity that provides funding for a full range of assistance to our top athletes through the Isle of Man Sport Institute.
Our mission is to enable the Isle of Man’s young sporting ambassadors to fulfil their athletic ambitions at international standard. We believe that individual success is dependent upon community aspiration and that success at top level will benefit all levels of sport on the Isle of Man.
Our athletes have proven that living on a small island is no barrier to success. Over the years, Sport Aid beneficiaries have gone on to win medals at national and world championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games. In partnership with our local sponsors, local and UK governing bodies, and UK sports institutes, our support staff seek the continued development of the expertise and facilities needed to promote the Isle of Man’s international sporting reputation.
We enjoy principal sponsorship from the Isle of Man Government through Isle of Man Sport. In 2006, Mr Albert Gubay also kindly helped us to create the Gubay Fund for Sporting Excellence, which provides a significant source of funding for our athletes. Our athletes are also fortunate to enjoy a close relationship with a number of local businesses, which provide ongoing financial support and an invaluable network for enhancing awareness of our community goals.
